NetZero Home Qualified Builder

Brookfield’s Plan to be Net Zero

At Brookfield Residential, we take immense pride in providing a superior customer experience throughout the entire home-buyer journey and beyond. Now, we're taking action to become carbon neutral while prioritizing affordability and enhancing the customer experience. Here's how.

Netzero Ready Home

Over the years, we have made significant strides in the construction of Net Zero homes — with two brand-new homes to show for it. The first fully completed Net Zero home is located in Edgemont, Edmonton and available for tours. The second home was built in in Cranston's Riverstone, Calgary and is now sold.

Net Zero

What does it mean to be Net Zero?

Net Zero homes in Alberta generate as much renewable energy as they consume annually, achieving a net energy balance of zero. This efficient design offsets energy consumption with on-site renewable energy production, making them up to 80% more energy-efficient than conventional homes.

What makes a Net Zero home different?

The foundation of a Net Zero home hinges on two critical factors: an energy-efficient design and the integration of renewable energy systems.

  • More efficient insulation
  • Air-sealing around doors, vents, outlets, and windows. (Conventional homes have the sealing around the inside of the home, but a Net zero home is sealed on the outside.)
  • High-performing windows
  • Energy Star appliances
  • LED lighting
  • Air source heat pump
  • Hot water tank
  • Roof solar panels with an energy monitor system

A Net Zero Home can lead to an average annual saving of $2,500 on your energy bill.
