Brookfield Residential is one of Alberta’s first homebuilders to proactively address a hidden problem that is unfortunately all too real due to our geography: radioactive radon gas. We include an advanced radon mitigation system that is aligned with the building code of the future. This superior mitigation system is called a passive radon stack which reduces naturally occurring radon gas by 40-90%

  • Radon is an odourless, radioactive gas released naturally in the soil.
  • It is caused by the breakdown of uranium (a common soil mineral).
  • Ongoing exposure at high concentrations is linked with cancer. Health Canada has listed radon as the second leading cause of cancer.
  • It can enter a home through the basement.
  • A Passive Radon Stack vents radon gas out of the home reducing radon gas levels by 40-90%

How Our Passive Radon Stack Works
  • The passive radon stack is part of the soil gas collection system.
  • It is installed beneath your basement floor. 
  • Gas collected travels up through a sealed 4" pipe and is exhausted outside through a roof vent.
