Guest Post – The Styled Social
Featuring The Verona Living Room at Symons Gate

Our favorite part of the holidays is connecting with friends and family, and of course eating delicious bites!

During the holidays, our houses can be packed with visitors. To ensure you keep people moving around and to create a great party flow, station food and drinks around your home. This will encourage everyone to mix and mingle too!  At each food or drink station, remember to include plates, napkins, utensils or glasses so your guests don’t feel like they need to go on an adventure to find something.

While setting up for the get-together, we know it’s easy to go overboard with décor, but we recommend first starting with what you have! One type of seasonal floral or holiday greens complemented by a couple of candles and holiday ornaments can add a beautiful touch to your party.

When the food is displayed on beautiful platters or dishes, it will be the centre of attention and act as décor itself. Today we’re helping you to recreate the most beautiful charcuterie board that is easy to make and will wow your guests!

Charcuterie Board
Kitchen Equipment: platter or tray, small knives (2)
Serves: 8-10

  •  225-250g of brie
  • 225-250g of manchego
  • 225-250g of herb & spice havarti
  • 1 cup olives of your choice (we used feta-stuffed green olives)
  • 1 cup berries of your choice (we used blackberries)
  • 24 slices of prosciutto
  • 24 slices of spicy salami
  • 10 pepperoni sticks, cut into smaller pieces
  • 1x box of your favourite crackers (we used Wheat Thins)
  • 6-12 dried figs, sliced in half
  • 1x small bag of walnuts
  • 1x small bunch of thyme

Instructions:
Using a large platter or tray, start by arranging the three types of cheeses and begin to fill in the remaining space with the rest of your ingredients: olives, berries, prosciutto, crackers, figs, walnuts and thyme.  Remember, you can always just cut a slice of each type of cheese to start with on the platter.

You can use our photo to help guide your charcuterie design, but use whatever style you are feeling to make it your own!  Don’t worry about fitting everything on the platter to start with.

Once the party gets started, just keep an eye out for whichever ingredients are the crowd favorites, as they might need refilling. Refresh your platter during the evening as needed.

Happy Entertaining!
